Analysis
These webpages give a detailed description of my IC40 high energy cascade analysis for IceCube. This analysis aims to discover an E-2 neutrino flux by finding cascade events within the IC40 data. Other IceCube analyses that are looking at the data from the cascade stream from IC40 include Henrik's, Sebastians, Eike's and Doug's work. Here you can see a plot showing a comparison of energy range for each of these analyses.
The experimental data and Monte Carlo CORSIKA and signal simulated datasets that are used in this analysis are outlined below.
Data
Experimental Data: IC40 runs from 6th April 2008 (run 110782) to 20th May 2009 (run 113821) - Good Run List.
Burn Sample: 10% of IC40 data, defined by run number ending in zero.
lifetime: 872.61 hours = 36.36 days
Analysis: The rest of the IC40 data.
lifetime: 8,093.71 hours = 337.24 days
CORSIKA
Single unweighted CORSIKA: Datasets 2020, 2046, 2049, 2052, 2116, 2119, 2120, 2123, 2124, 2127, 2128, 2132, 2133, 2134, 2142, 2143, 2144, 2164, 2165, 2169, 2170, 2176, 2177, 2184, 2259 and 3363.
lifetime: 134,000 files x 4.014 seconds = 149.410 hours / 0.9325 = 160.225 hours = 6.68 days
Single weighted CORSIKA: Datasets 2546, 2712, 2713, 2745, 2907 and 2975.
lifetime: 166,000 files
Double unweighted CORSIKA: Datasets 2110, 2483, 3813, 4497, 4629 and 4725.
lifetime: 46,000 files x 4.014 seconds = 51.290 hours / 0.1298 = 395.146 hours = 16.46 days
Double weighted CORSIKA: Datasets 3697, 3701 and 3705.
lifetime: 7,000 files
Triple unweighted CORSIKA: Datasets 2711, 4455 and 4540.
lifetime: 7,000 files x 4.014 seconds = 7.805 hours / 0.0075 = 1040.667 hours = 43.361 days
Two-component CORSIKA: No official dataset number.
lifetime: 600 proton files, 600 iron files
weighting: E-2 broken spectrum taken from Henrike's website
Signal
