Stephanie's Homepage Summary of Issues

Feature extractor
Feature extractor was found to have several problems in May 2009, summarised in detail here, these are:
  • FE is giving spurious pulses in the FADC
  • DOMCalibrator is giving incorrect baselines
  • ATWD and FADC timing offset in calibrated waveforms leads to double-fitting of the same pulse
These bugs were fixed mid May 2009, so is corrected for in the level 2b signal and CORSIKA simulation. This problem is also corrected in the level 2b reprocessing of experimental data, however the experimental data was filtered at Pole with an old version of feature extractor that had these problems present. Since all three issues concern only the FADC, not the ATWD pulses they do not affect cascade analysis. This is because the cascade reconstructions at level 2 use only the first hit which is always from the ATWD.

Hit binning bug
Simulation was found to have a binning problem, summarised in detail here, this is:
  • High energy hits were binned incorrectly
This problem is corrected in the level 2b signal and CORSIKA simulation.

Good DOMs list
The Good DOMs list was found to have a problem by Brendan, this is:
  • Good DOMs list is incorrect for IC40
This problem is corrected in the level 2b reprocessing of experimental data.

DOMcalibrator
DOMcalibrator was found to have FADC/ATWD saturation level set wrong, summarised in detail here, this is:
  • FADC/ATWD saturation was set to 1022 instead of 900
This problem exists in all simulation up to and including level 3 (it is corrected for at level 4), and exists for experimental data taken at pole (it is corrected for in level 2_fix processing). The difference between simulation and experimental data may contribute to in a small way systematics, which will be invistigated at the end of analysis.
